Once upon a time, an angry father pursues his eloping daughter. While he is clearly none too pleased at the idea of his girl becoming a bride, the father, at the end of the tale, finds the maiden and her lover on a bridge, and before his eyes, they transform into love birds and fly away together. So, daddy had no choice about the matter then. The lovebirds can be seen on all such Blue Willow designs, of which this four-piece set of porcelain mugs is a charming part. Keeping with the classic design, ever-present are the willows, the house where the lovers resided, the house to which they fled, and the bridge where they were transformed; each part of the story is brought to life in the designs of each Blue Willow piece. Stencil etched by hand and then fired to solidify the pattern, the pieces are forged by skilled artisans and topped off with a beautiful and long lasting finish.
